One of the worst physical injuries was a bite to my forearm. I ended up with some necrotic fat and a wonderful scar It’s not always the bites and scratches! Don’t get me started on the mental injuries
Oh, tell me about it! Burnout, compassion fatigue, depression, anxiety, PTSD. The list goes on...
Speaking of dog bites, a long deep scratch from my armpit to the underside of my elbow from a German Shepherd. Made me bleed and I have a raised scar.
I have never really had a major injury, luckily. But here at the clinic, back, shoulders, and wrists injuries are very common.
A cat bit me on my non-dominant wrist. It was the worst pain I've ever felt. Even something as simple as getting dressed caused significant pain. There was a red patch on my arm that kept spreading. Two different kinds of antibiotics were needed to treat this bite.
OUCH. I can confirm that cat bites are the absolute worst. My worst injury was a single puncture on my middle finger from a dysphoric cat waking up from anesthesia.
I got a nasty dog bite on the lip. It took off half my lower lip, still healing from reconstructive surgery.
The only two types of injuries that will make me cringe are anything that makes you lose a fingernail and papercuts. I've ripped off the same pinky toenail at least three times now. And they all sucked just as much as the others.
I was handling a bearded dragon trying to feed him his meds. My finger was too close to his mouth and before I knew it my finger got chomped on. I quickly flinched. He had nearly bitten off my fingertip (clean cut into my nail bed too). Two weeks later it has healed, but the skin is still pink.
Cat bites, of course. One sent me to the hospital after a near miss with some tendons. A goofy pit bull also headbutted me. I bruised my nose, and I saw stars. I am amazed I didn't get a broken nose!
