The job market is a bit tough, but you've tried to apply for the zoo industry.
It's possible that your gap in work experience is scaring employers off. However, you could also just be having bad luck. Keep applying and networking, and eventually you'll find a job.
Many people worry that someone who's taken time off won't be as committed to their job, and may be less reliable. If you can find a way to explain the gap positively, it will help mitigate any concerns an employer may have.
I would bet more on bad luck than the gap in your summary, but either way I would recommend that if you don't manage to get a job yet that you participate in some vet days as a volunteer to reintroduce yourself to the field and connect with other professionals
Are you a veterinarian? there is a system for treating animals at home, and many veterinary clinics are offering it, it is a not-so-good vacancy but it is a good thing to start over.
I don't think it's the gap in employment; a lot of people are facing similar predicaments right now. Just keep at it and I'm sure you'll find something. Wishing you luck
The industry really fluctuates a lot from what I've heard, but people will always need veterinary techs. It seems like a lot of companies are a bit reluctant to hire many people because their business is still suffering the effects of lockdowns etc.
What area are you in? It may scare people off, but most are pretty understanding. The industry is so understaffed right now that I'm surprised more people aren't ignoring it.
