I'm a licensed tech and officers manager making 16.50 . The increase in the economy is what's causing airbus to pay 16$ . I feel most ppl are in the vet field bc its their passion. Definitely not because the money
As far as I've seen, Veterinary medicine is not changing wages for inflation and technicians/assistants are having to leave the industry to continue surviving. This means more understaffed clinics and more people picking up the work of extra people with no additional compensation. As long as we continue to tolerate this treatment that is... and they know we will tolerate it because we're designed as empaths/nurturers/ people pleasers, that's the traits that make us so suitable for these positions. So why would they raise our pay if they can get away with not doing so and accure more profits for their families?
My hospital experienced a severe support staff shortage right after covid. We lost so many people and my company was hiring for assistant positions only, not techs, what we needed were technicians, with experience but we ended up getting were first timers to the field, who needed lots of otj training. And they were given minimum wages. More work for the rest of us, just to avoid having to pay out for more qualified staff. These are they types of things that while not technically “wrong” are huge slaps in the face to the backbone workers of a hospital.
It is important to ask the person in charge for the required increase, exposing your skills and responsibilities so that both parties can reach an agreement where you can be satisfied with your work. Good luck.
