The beach and the fact that the weather was perfect on Christmas Eve and Christmas! Also people here are pretty laid-back
Never lived in Miami so I believe it lol. Florida and Cali both have "character". Relative to where I'm from and what I expect from laid back... It still doesn't hit the bar. But yeah, it's not LA and it's not Miami for sure.
People here are happy and healthy. I spend 80% of my social life outdoors compared to other cities I’ve lived where being social pretty much meant going to a restaurant or bar.
I actually feel like I save money here in that sense because my social life revolves around going surfing, hiking, beach volleyball, skating, and picnics at the beach/park. Things that are pretty much free!
I majorly slowed down my drinking when I moved here because I just don’t need to do it to be social haha.
The outdoor life!
Omg you are so right. I love the weather here and the beaches.
Just moved here from Seattle over the summer. Spent many years there but wasn’t ever a fan of the long gloomy winter weather. I have a couple young children, and there’s so much more to do here. The zoos, theme parks (Seaworld, Legoland), and the beaches are all awesome. Plus the weather being consistently nice means we can do stuff year-round. Also we enjoy eating out and there are sooo many more places to go, especially for outdoor dining. Overall, my family’s quality of life has gone up dramatically with the move. Highly recommended.
-Great beer
-Nice beaches
-Driving distance to mountains for snowboarding
-Short drive to Mexico. Lots of fun/cheap bar restaurants. Heard dentists, meds, lasik, BBL, etc are cheap down there too lol
Pro
Beer selection is pretty limited if you aren’t into IPAs.
It’s getting hotter and we now have mosquitoes. I’m thinking about moving north because in five to ten years San Diego is going to be unbearably hot and humid
The mosquito issue is real. Climate change is real. Be ready. We in the desert

Never ending choice of amazing, fun, and/or eclectic restaurants
I would say my favorite things are the beach and the weather for sure! Also, there's always something to do, whether it's hiking or going out.
Same as OP but I’m in Denver considering the move!
Same here se1... I'm an SE so if you make the move take me with you haha
Other than the weather that allows for an outdoorsy lifestyle, I’d say the people!!! So many transplants so everyone is incredibly nice and open to new friendships. Easiest move I’ve ever done
Weather is unreal like everyone has said, very clean and manicured compared to most US cities. Lovely views, beaches and chill vibes all around. Only cons are not being super close to LAX and house prices.
