I thought California had a 10% cap every year. Just moved to OB and the price I pay for a 1 bed makes me blush.
rent increases are capped by law
Oh this is good to know. I didn't know that about the 15 years old rule.
Yep sure did. Not only that but two months after they raised my rent they sent me a new lease and said they messed up and its suppposed to be $10 more a month then what they said. I don't even think that is legal.
You can increase rent over 10 percent, you just have to be given a 60 day notice (vs a 30 day notice)
I moved into a new apartment this year. I think I got a fair deal. I feel like people were on reduced rates stemming from Covid. I also talked with a leasing agent and she said that you’d be surprised how many tenants haven’t paid their rent since Covid. So they are probably trying to make up for that.
Mine went up about $150 per month. It ridiculous but yet my place is still cheaper than most so I stayed here.
Yep mine went up about $125 a month. Not so bad compared to others but still. If this keeps up and we keep not getting raises at work....nobody can keep up with it.
