See if you can share the room with that teacher.
Did they give you another room?
Usually the library is my go-to back up. Otherwise I will sometimes connect with the school secretary about using a conference room if that is an option
Did you ask your administrator? They should provide or suggest a place to go. We have a small testing room that can be used by anyone. We also have OT/PT rooms that aren’t utilized every single day.
Like many SpEd teachers, look for a closet that the custodian is willing to clean out for you. If you need to hide a mess of pipes or what-have-you cover cheap, large sheets of chipboard (and braces if needed to use more than one piece of chipboard). Alternatively, use multiple large trifold backboards (taped together front and back with Gorilla Duct Tape). Use wallpaper or cover it with cheap king sized sheets. On the back side, create a hinge with gorilla brand duct tape if you cannot install a couple of hinges. Put a pull handle of some sort on the other side and some duct tape on the bottom if you cannot safely mount your faux wall about 1/4” off the floor. This allows access to the ugly pipes in back. You may need a brick or large rock painted mandala style, decopauged, etc. to prevent it from swinging open.
Cover plain, but ugly walls with heavy laundry starch, then soak some cute fabric in the starch, use your neoprene gloved hands to smooth the fabric to get rid of bubbles. When your admin relents and gives you some other space, the wall covering peels off easily. Your faux wall also disassembles easily. It’s small, but it’s yours. A student desk covered in fabric, or a chipboard three walled frame with a desk top covered in another cheap sheet fitted around the entire thing; add a secretary chair et voila! A “cozy” spot all your own!
