Let’s talk office set ups. I am looking at a Uplift standing desk as my big splurge because I have back issues, and the room I work in has horrible lighting so I’m considering some sort of selfie light ring type thing that I can clip to my monitor. Anyone have feedback on either the desk or a light they like, or any other ergo friendly home office hacks you’ve found helpful?

I bought a Lume Cube light when we started WFH, but ended up not needing it because the Logitech Brio 4K webcam I ordered around the same time has such good light sensitivity. The light worked fine and definitely improved the built-in webcam picture, but hardly made any difference with the Brio. I’d definitely recommend a good external webcam so you don’t have to switch back and forth between your laptop and external monitor just for a Zoom call.

For standing desks, either Uplift or Fully are fine depending on the extras you might want, but you still have to be extremely mindful of your posture when standing. If your current chair isn’t great, I’d probably upgrade that before a standing desk that will just make different parts of your back hurt. Check out a used Herman Miller Aeron or Steelcase Gesture.

Look at Phillips Hue lights for around your work area.

I have two in-ceiling cans above my desk, and I put Hue bulbs in them so I can adjust the color temperature of my work area to either relax or focus better. They’re not cheap - >$50 per bulb, plus a base station if you want more comprehensive control, but it’s a great platform.

OP I customized my autonomous. Been using it for a while now. I like mine and thankfully no issues. Would totally recommend.

Hello RSM coworkers! I am thrilled to be moving to RSM into a Scheduler roll. I just found out yesterday and want to be as prepared as possible in the next steps.

So here are my questions.

How long does the background study take? I'm guessing admin staff have a study that is faster and less complicated than someone in Tax ect.

When training at home what did you need that wasn't supplied by RSM? My home office is well stocked but I want to be as prepared as possible.

Thanks in advance!

Just landed a full time gig, looking to get some furniture so I’m not working on my parents’ kitchen table during this remote period. Any recommendations for desks and chairs? I’m hoping to find something that’s easy to assemble and break down for when I need to move, and something that won’t cost an arm and a leg.

I know everyone has a different kind of setup that works for them. I currently have a laptop, drawing pad, second monitor, and a desk riser.

Home office preference question. I am getting ready to redo the layout of my home office. One option I'm considering would have my desk facing a wall. I am wondering if anyone with this current setup has any feedback about it. I would face the wall so that I would have a better background for video conferences (am on about half the day) and also my cord situation would be cleaner.
