To me, it's hamsters. I think because they just stay in the cage and run on the wheel people for get to check in on their health
It's absolutely rabbits. It's actually been many reports out there that say that rabbits are the most neglected. They are kept in situations that are not healthy for them and owners don't know enough about them to see signs of illness
Yup 75% of rabbits are not cared for properly. I hate that. it makes me so sad
I would like to put a petition in for goldfish. Those little babies are fighting to even be fed sometmes
For me, cats are among the most frequently mistreated animals, in addition to being neglected. Certain regions in the US are better than the others at enforcing state laws that aim to prevent this abuse.
I'd say rabbits and hamsters. We only have 2-3 patients in our clinic. Most are cats and dogs.
Now that OP has brought this up, I'd like some advice on what to say to clients about suspected neglect cases. How do I tell them in a polite way they are on my radar? How do I know the difference between an owner lying and an owner genuinely not knowing what they are doing wrong? How do I make sure they provide proper care after they leave? Are animal welfare checks taken seriously by animal control?
