What do you think of the FL Supreme Court directing the Bar to defund the Diversity and Inclusion Committee?

Interested in for profit business model with positive social impact in the area of education, reducing poverty and street children. Interested in solving social problem through business. what career path I can take? finding organization that really inspire me isn’t easy. Should I start with skill for potential position? I’m in sales/business development now but I want to shift to other role. I’ve been back and forth and really difficult how to lay out the path to take. Tks

What are your thoughts on working at a multicultural agency? I am more for fighting the good fight to properly represent the Hispanic community and address it as part as the General Mkt (as is should be) and I worry that if I switch to a multicultural-focused place I will never convey the thoughts of being part of the total market. Am I overthinking it? Gracias!

I am defending an eviction for a client who has given possession of the property (as of Nov. 30). Plaintiff’s complaint has one claim – possession. They did request relief for attorney’s fees. NJT/Final Hearing commenced 10/27, was only 30 min and was therefore continued to 12/20. Plaintiff had counsel at that time but they are no longer represented.  I want to file something notifying Court that Plaintiff claim is now moot, making sure that judgment is not entered that hurts (cont'd)..

Jr. Associate at an AmLaw 100 firm in Central Florida. Good credentials; top 10% at T14, law review. Sick of private practice bc of hours and pressure. Also, not enjoying the work that Central Florida offers, but want to live here.

Anyone have any insight on the Orlando staff counsel offices for GEICO or State Farm? I currently work at an established insurance defense firm, but am looking to switch for a better work life balance. How is compensation for a 4th year attorney? Should I expect better work life balance working as staff counsel? My understanding is that I should, but I wanted to see if anyone had experience with either office.

The firm I work for is not closing for the hurricane. Staff were told to work from home or take PTO if they could not come in to the office (and the building is now closed until Friday). Is this normal?!

Looking to purchase a house soon and am trying to decide between a low commute time (crappier house and a tight move financially) and a longer commute time (nicer house and more comfortable financially). The longer commute time also comes with better public schools, and I want to have kids.

Florida associates (3-6 years experience) at regional decent size firms (or I guess really any firm), what is your hourly rate and salary? Thinking ahead about asking for a raise this year, and wondering if I’m limited at my firm bc our rates are seemingly low.

I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts/advice on the following - if a motion to vacate final default judgment based upon improper service is denied, can a subsequent motion to vacate based upon excusable neglect then be filed? Or at that point just pay the judgment?
