Be direct. Schedule a 1:1 with your manager and say "I want to talk about my path to promotion." Don't hint, don't wait for them to bring it up. Ask specifically what you need to do to get there and get it in writing. If their answer is evasive, the only way to keep moving up might be by changing companies.

Thank you, both!!!
I would ask for a one-on-one with your manager and share your interest in moving up the career path. I always make a point to sit down with my manager, express my goals, and ask what I can do to get there. If you have a good manager, they’ll support you and help guide you.

Thank you!
I’m in the same boat. I’ve raised it with my manager and they’ve exposed me to more things, like managing rotational development people that are only on our team for 6 months, etc. this has given me more management experience but I’m still not sold that it’s going to end in a promotion without me having to look outside of my company.
