Eh usually not a good idea. Stick with a suit, tie optional.
Depends on the client to be honest, but to be safe id go with darker jeans like black.
In the Midwest, probably. In NYC, not likely. On West coast, mixed.
Still depends on the client in the Midwest, but I can say a majority would not bat an eye.
I wouldn’t wear jeans.
Times are changing but I still feel jeans are not a good choice.
Depends on your age and level of success. Jeans are a no-no unless you are successful enough to get away with it. But even then, it would be non-typical in most geographies and with most demographics.
No jeans!
I decided to let my assistant go casual on Fridays, she tried talking me into wearing jeans on Friday with her. Finally I relented on a day that I planned to only work a short time and did not have any appointments set. So, I wore my $140 jeans with a starched white dress shirt, $250 dress shoes and a $600 blazer. I felt pretty good about my casual look. But, one of my 80 year old widowed clients came in, looked me up and down and asked if I was working in the fields today. I don’t do casual Fridays anymore.
Suits are like Titles, if you need one you don't have it yet. If you have it you don't need it. Watch out for counter signaling. See: https://www.kitces.com/blog/what-new-financial-advisors-should-wear-dress-dangers-of-countersignaling/
We have started to dress down. It all depends on the atmosphere of your office and your clientele. We have a bunch of reclaimed wood and have a very “organic” look to our office and it comes through in our marketing. More casual makes more sense. If you have the marble castle at your office and mahogany conference room table, probably not. We haven’t gotten to jeans yet but can see us going there with some caveats - dark jeans that fit well and are paired with dressier shoes and a crisp shirt. I think if you are playing it safer a sport coat is a great idea. We are in the Midwest so perhaps we are just a little more dressed down than others. Our demographic is also more “millionaire next door” than HNW so that’s a consideration as well.
And should add that if you are in your 20s it is a hard no. Much more advisable for someone established with some experience
