you jump i jump jack
Depends on each job but probably go with whatever one I liked more if there was a drastic difference, if not I’d jump. If the lower paying was my preferable I’d be honest with them and let them know you were offered higher elsewhere but you’d like to stay if they can match, or come close. If not, jump. There’s a value and integrity to loyalty but it’s not like you’ve been there a while and built relationships and both you and the company are showing loyalty to each other, this is a very brand new relationship where at this point I don’t or wouldn’t expect any form of loyalty to have been earned yet on either side. That being said, with this being a brand new job I would do whatever is best for me and would recommend the same to others.
On the flipside, I will say that as an employer, I do appreciate employee loyalty, but at the same point that needs to be earned. My best employee was offered much higher pay elsewhere, but wouldn’t sacrifice or risk moving although I don’t have the ability to match and didn’t at the time either , but she would not risk leaving our team and it’s culture and the benefits we offer monetary as well as non-monetary alongside the Care and consideration I have for my team. So just an example of when I believe it is justified to demonstrate loyalty.

thanks for the thoughtful feedback :)
I would absolutely jump ship. I mean, if somebody with my exact skillset and credentials walked in and offered to do my job for significantly less money, they would probably find a reason to let me go and hire the other person. So why can't I do what's in my best interest?
