Bowl Leader
At the moment I am on a team of nearly all male engineers - I find this to be fairly typical of my past experiences as well. Designer make up is a bit more mixed. I’ve been lucky as I’ve never felt this affected me negatively even when I’m the only woman in the room. I think projecting confidence and security in myself helps a lot with that!
I have experienced different gender balances over my jobs.
13 years old in a start-up, I was the only female in product / engineering / documentation / design. There was around 35 employees total.
9 years ago in 100,000 employee company that had been around 20+ years. It was 25% female / 75% male in product jobs. All the product leadership were male.
6 years ago in 3,000 employee company. It was 50/50. All product leadership were male. There were some women managing a team of product managers. But director and above were male.
Today I am in 600+ employee company. And there are women in leadership as product directors. It is about 50/50.
