Leo had some really great United spots back in the day. They invented just about every Kellogg chat. But selling to Publicis really put a stranglehold on their creativity.
DDb Chicago has been the head of of DDB North America since Reinhart moved it here in like the 70s or 80s. They had State Farm and McDonalds for almost 30 years I think. They made Bud Lights Real Men of Genius. Maybe the best radio comedy campaign of all time. Basically they were what Highdive is now but bigger.
It’s a coin toss between those 2 IMO
This is historical. Not at this current moment. Please vent your frustrations at the current state of advertising elsewhere

Leo is the only one I’ve heard someone outside the industry mention
Well, Leo started in 1935 before any of the current agencies now.
Leo hands down, Ddb doesn't hold a candle to the work that Leo has done in my opinion.
Rising Star
When tho. This was asking about historically. Not necessarily recently.
Ya gotta give it to Burnett. From a historical and size perspective, Burnett started here and has their largest office here.
While DDB is certainly in the conversation, I’d also add FCB. The C stands for Cone, who started the Chicago office. Foote was a NYer and Belding had a San Fran office. FCB was Lord & Thomas before that. Many, many years ago.
There were other Chicago agencies back in the day. The Highdives of their time. But I digress.
Prob Leo
Rising Star
I’d say Leo. They were the critter company.
My take---There are no prestegious agencies in Chicago. Some will look better on your CV than others.
Leo, Ogilvy, FCB
Seems like a really odd thing to care about? Prestigious to who? Idk anyone in advertising that would ask that and outside of it no one knows agencies by name.
Basically what looks good on the CV.
