Pretty much the only way that workers can advocate for themselves is through collective bargaining. Look into joining your local union if you're interested in taking a more active role in improving conditions for teachers.
Yes, it's very frustrating to see people actively work against their own interest, but we just need to be patient and have dialogues with those around us. There's been a lot of cultural conditioning in this country to misinform people about unions and collective bargaining. This has gone on too long and I think it's our responsibility to start building awareness once again and change the narrative.
It is crazy. We got a 4%raise last year, but insurance went up 5.75%. However the local admin got crazy raises, and their kids get hires into admin positions.
