I never liked being a lawyer but I thought it would get better the further I got in my career.

Narrator: it did not get better

I’m in Y6 now 🤷🏻‍♀️

I had all the feels within 3-5 months, but didn’t full accept it and quit law until about 4.5 years later.

I am looking to enter big law. I had a clerkship on a state Business Calendar and am a current first year litigation associate where I have prepared for a trial, taken and defended depositions, and have extensive motion writing practice in tech, business, and employment cases. Has anyone made the transition from non-profit and small firm practice to federal government, big law, in-house? One of my junior associates recently resigned and I've been trying to make an exit myself for several months now. The job market has been really competitive but I am getting closer to getting a new job and moving on. The firm culture isn't great and work-life balance is non existent. My physical and mental health have been suffering, so I really don't think I could stay. How did you avoid the guilt trips from Partners/Senior staff trying to get you to stay?
