About 4 months after starting my new role last year. Have had to work 60 hours a week most weeks to keep up. Have not worked 40 hours a week since the first couple of months.
It is what it is. Many people who want to work and need to eat and pay bills can't find work. I am lucky to have a decent job. Will stick with until things hopefully get better, I get a job overseas with better labor protections, or I die from some stress-related illness, whichever comes first.
It was always bad and you're not allowed overtime so you have no choice but to perform at exceptional levels at all times. People burn out in 3-9 months. You do the work of 2 years during that time frame. Companies think burning people out pays but it doesn't. They had to pay more and more just to get people to join but the money wasnt th eproblem.

Can’t agree more. Burning out your employees doesn’t do any good long term.

I think I started working later and later and everyone expected me too - didn’t realise how bad that actually is!
