Wish I could answer this, but I can't since we went full RTO. Everyone is still mad about it. Myself included.

That sounds like a good way to manage remote employees
We have software that remote employees sign into when they’re working. It tracks things like keystrokes and mouse clicks. But we rarely find a need to check this software. As long as people are completely their tasks, then we don’t see the need to check in on them.
There is a software that can move your mouse around and click on things when there is no one there. I found out about this from a former coworker. Is not my bag, but people do it.
My organisation only has a few WFH but have implemented weekly catch-up meetings. It allows managers to catch-up with their employees and assess whether WFH is the right approach case-by-case. The employees can also use this time to ask any pressing questions or request for adjustments where necessary. These meetings are flexible too, so can be rearranged as to not create that "this meeting could've been an email" feeling. The minimum is one meeting biweekly. We rarely have any issues with productivity.
