My mentee will have a phone interview for Principal research associate in South San Francisco (Pharma company, 6 yoe), he wants to ask for 120-130k because of relocation and HCOL . Is it doable or too high? (in our current location, that’s range is for scientist level)

I started my first in-house role about 4 months ago and I don’t think it’s the right fit. I love the no billable hours aspect, but otherwise I miss the structure of being at a firm. How long do you think I should try to stick this out before I move on? I want to give the job a real shot - and i know the transition to in-house can be jarring…but I also don’t want to spend too much time in a job that is a wrong fit.

I’m a recent graduate of masters and currently have 2 offers in my hand.

1) One with CITI Bank with 100k salary and no sign on bonus and as it is in my home town as I stay with my family needs no relocation bonus required.

2) This is with American Airlines in Dallas Fort Worth which offered 100k + 10k bonus + 18k relocation bonus (required)

Which ofer should I consider given I’m a new graduate and this is going to be my first job. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Any thoughts on Georgia tech’s OMSCS vs OMSA? Non-CS background in economics - very quant degree - and want to do the former but unlikely due to lack of accredited courses in CS. Intention is to do DS but want a proper math grounding and knowledge of SE to build models that fit into existing infrastructure. Have done data analytics in R and quant finance in Matlab, in addition to some ML and SE stuff in Python for project.
