Recent reports show millennials are buying more pick up trucks than Gen Z or other older generations. Seems like a good time for them to be doubling down on trucks
Traded the BMW 3 series in for a Jeep Gladiator truck bc I was over having the same car as everyone else. And well, the truck is a lot more fun. Millennial here.
I was a CW on Chevy for 10 yrs and that was a decade ago. Trucks and SUVs were always the biggest sellers. Cars were mainly those seen with NASCAR (Impala) or iconic like the Corvette and Camaro. (And yes, a lot of NASCAR ads were written by a Black man.)
The most diversity driven campaigns I worked on were for Essence Music Festival. They were one of the first major sponsors of the festival for about 10 yrs. Our first year, we featured Malibu. After that, it was mainly Trailblazer and Equinox. Sponsorship ended around the time GM filed for bankruptcy. Also, the clients weren’t people of color back then. Chevy’s more targeted efforts were more often seen in event marketing.
It screams middle-white America.
