Rising Star
I placed 3 in lit. I suspect Johnson Downie did the V&E finance deal.
It’s Mr. Hastings himself
1.) Johnson Downie opens the offices in Dallas. The VE finance group was a negotiated package and is not the efforts of a single recruiter. It’s a deal at the attorney level between a group of lawyers willing to move and the law firm entrant.
2.) it is typical to follow up those initial hires with ancillary supporting hires. One-offs in tax and litigation for example.
That finance group had been looking to move for a couple years and is very strong. PH has been on a spending spree. Conversely, Willkie as a platform has nowhere near the momentum or open pocketbook that a PH does and took partners from a couple different firms, one of whom wasn’t wanted back at his last place after lateraling there and the other group was from a regional firm with unproven partners and a fraction of a single client.
Serious question. Why couldn’t Willkie do this?
At PH, it’s awesome
Not sure it has much to do with the recruiter. Paul Hastings is a big name and its Dallas office is brand new so it’s making waves.
Money and a willingness to hire effectively mercenaries looking for a place that is as hard charging as they are
