Asian. Female. Auditor in public accounting before the big pay adjustments due to the great resignation.
Year 1 - 50,590
Year 2 - 52,250
Year 3 - 54,000
Year 4 - 63,000
Year 5 - 67,000 + around 3k bonus
Year 6 - 72,000 + around 1.5k bonus. This is stupid. My previous bonus was based on hours I worked, kinda like OT. My year 6 bonus was after I became a manager. It's discretionary 🙄
I don't know why it's so difficult for some people to just answer your question. 🤣
Because as an engineer, I want to answer as accurately as possible so I need exact questions. Assumptions is where mistake happens.
OP asked for
1) “salary increase” not “salary”,
2) did not specify currency,
3) did not specify country (see #2),
4) did not specify age,
5) does salary mean base or total compensation (you included bonus which he really did not ask for),
If OP wants to do any real statistical analysis, all those information I mentioned is important. If OP is just fishing for information, then no point entertaining OP.
As a business analyst I presume you understand the importance of sample size and a random sample.
Would you share your hypothesis?
OP’s hypothesis is racism.
Mine is OP is probably not that good of an analyst.
The data you would get would be irrelevant to whatever you are trying to prove.
MAWM started at Citi at 20k and now over 6 figures 25 years later. Minimal raises until I took it upon myself to be better and learn more. Aside from pay, raises, and race, you need a lot more information to make an informed decision. But you can make an easy race bait conclusion based on what you’ve asked for and people like me with 0% to 3% raises over the years would be ignored as atypical to meet your expected results. BTW 75% of my time here, I was also a BA.
Whatever you are trying to see from fishbowl posts would be impossible and also useless
Racists will lie to try defeating a point while also lacking self awareness of why they lie.
This app sort of skews towards higher earners. Many more PMx and salaried white collar folks than waged or blue collar.

Clearly not familiar with the scientific method.
I will tell you what you asked instead of act like im the data expert

You don't need to be a data expert to know that OP is seeking confirmation bias
Also you didn't answer their question since they are asking for your comp progression, not your current comp

… but as soon as I changed gender to non-binary and race to white, I got a 200% salary increase
I think these responses give you all the data you need, lol.
Chief
I don't think that's how data gathering works lol
I’ll bite.
Female. Brown. I do not necessarily believe “the system” is rigged. Some individuals are racists, yes. I’ve had my fair encounters. It is no news that overall minorities do not get promoted or paid as highly as the white race but I’ve worked hard to break that stereotype. I’m currently handsomely compensated. Unfortunately, I’m consistently the only leader amongst my peers with my gender and/or ethnicity. Perfect example, I’m currently the only female in an all-white-male leadership team.
Work harder. Read more books. Show up earlier. Speak with more confidence. Believe in yourself.

I agree individuals can succeed - but it’s confusing that you see examples of racism, lack of minority leadership, stats of discriminatory pay, yet don’t believe “the system is rigged.” Unless I’m misinterpreting what you mean by that.
The data here would be skewed and irrelevant. Fishbowl attracts certain type of professional in certain stages in their career.
I'm a minority myself and consider myself "racially conscious". But is obvious that your bias will skew whatever result you get to produce the data you want.
Black - $392k last year (about $80k was bonus)
Nice! What do you do? Audit partner? Only guessing 😆

In order to accurately do this, you’d need the following:
- salary increases with dates;
- gender and ethnicity
- industry (some industries are less racist than others)
- country (FB is not for US people only)
You simply won’t get large enough responses to create a meaningful sample size for any one given country/industry to justify anything real.
And state.
And level of education
The salary increase you are looking for, it is in
1) actual numbers or percentage,
2) for year to year (year 1, year 2 ……) or just beginning and current (Year 1; Current year),
3) base salary or total compensation (bonus, stocks, side money)?
If you want an accurate statical analysis, you have to be specific on the data you are asking for.
Something eh
