Why do companies never call back if you haven’t got the job? It’s very frustrating. Does anyone else experience the same?

We all have experienced the new norm of ghosting from time to time. There are times when they do not even get the resume / application as their AI and/or ATS program stops it for certain keywords not being found, some people are afraid to give bad news, some do not care about their jobs, and some just do not know how to communicate with others. I have had my share of ghosting either completely or after a phone screen or interview although I have also had some recruiters / hiring managers send me the generic rejection emails.

like

It might depend on the volume of people they need to contact, or the person who should be doing it just doesn't like the awkward conversation, or a number of other reasons. I hate it though. I once went through 8 interviews just to be ghosted. Because of that, I make it a point to let every person I've interviewed know if they didn't get the job. Preferably by email though, because I hate that conversation.

like

Yes I find "ghosting" common too. I've been looking for work for well over a year now. I didnt realise it a year ago, but there was an issue with my application. Only hardly anyone had the sense to tell me. I had to piece it all together bit by bit. When I say bit by bit, it took me 9 months to realise what the issue was. Because feedback was sparce.

Then when I had a smell of what was wrong, my so called advisors wouldnt buy what I was saying, when I asked for help on addressing what was wrong. It then took me another 3 or 4 months to get an application that actually works. And I had to do half the work myself.

Now it's fixed, I'm getting the interviews again. And my initial problems seem to be solved.

How much do tech recruiters make? You know, the ones that harass you with copy/pasted messages through email and LinkedIn.

Do they make salary or is it based on successful hires?

The pay seems pretty decent& also have the pension plan. Been here about 2 years no issues.

Has anyone else had a mentor (assigned to them by the Company) who seemed to have it out for you? I mean downright sabotage to make you look bad left and right. I didn’t realize it at first. She was fake friendly, but she was discrete too. Some of the executives thought she was amazing, but I had to clean up her work all the time. She wasn’t above me either on the chain of command. Later I found out she had tried for the exec assistant role and they didn’t choose her, they wanted me instead.

Looking for another remote position

I’ve been an Admin Assistant for 5 years with the last 2 in a government. I have worked hard to get here thinking this is what I wanted. Now that I’m here, making 40k CAD/yr. I feel like I’ve hit a glass ceiling and I’m desperate for more money and responsibilities - my job is way too easy. But not many opportunities for growth. Any suggestions on where to go from here?

How do you manage your money?

I only bring in a little over $2,600 a month. After paying all my expenses, I get to put away $500 a month in savings but don’t have much wiggle room for anything else, including going out money.

I’m very privileged to have a significant inheritance and zero debt of any kind. I really wonder how my peers who have student loans, car payments, and even children manage to pay their bills and live so comfortably. Please share if this is you!

Hey! I’m new here and would like some input. I’ve been working in a new position for almost 5 months. In that time I’ve witnessed some unethical and lots of unprofessional behavior. I’ve been yelled at and berated by my coworker 3 separate times because of minor errors. I’m ready to quit. There are so many major issues in this company that I don’t know if I want to subject my mental health to this degree of toxicity. I just don’t know how to move forward from here.

Happy Wednesday everyone. I'm so excited, I have a recruiter call scheduled with @Meta for Administrative Partner position. I've been in my current employer role for 19 years and I'm nervous as heck. I haven't had to do an interview in so long. Can someone please tell me what to expect with the recruiter call? I'm assuming it will be mostly about the role, my skills and background? Do they ask salary expectations? I have no idea what to say for the salary question. Feedback appreciated. Thanks

Hi- I’m an hourly AA, been on the role for 6 months now and it’s my first AA job. I did not get a raise when I took the job because it was technically a demotion ( I was a team leader at a contact center). I assist two VPs and now they want to add a third because they’re looking for the “ 3:1 ratio “. Should I ask for a raise? Is this normal? I know another AA that handles 3+ people but idk if she’s hourly or salary. Any thoughts?

Anyone have ideas for jobs that are a mix between administration and clinical work? I went to school for community health and have a lot of manager/patient coordinator experience under my belt, but I'm also a volunteer EMT and would like to start using those skills in my next job that I'm searching for.

Most titles I've found interesting are along the "medical assistants" role, but don't fit the bill cause I don't have an MA license
