If you use the pomodoro method for time focus and tracking, do you bill in those increments or just keep your billablr timer going the whole time? For example, I work in 25 minute increments for large projects then I get a break. Do I bill .5 for that increment and restart my billing or keep my billing continuously going thereby not rounding up for those 5 min? I have just kept my timer going.

I do reverse pomodoros. Goof off for 25 minutes, work for 5, bill a half hour.

likefunny

Maybe work 24 minutes with 6 minutes break and then you don’t have to worry about it

like

Same! Lol

For pomodoro yeah I would probably bill .8/1 hours broken up with two .1 hour breaks (24 6 24 6)

like

Is your “break” actually doing another task or just recalibrating for the next round of work? If the latter, I’d consider keeping the timer running. Preparing to do billable work can be billable.

like

Yes to that for sure. I guess when I take my breaks (I tend to do 15 minute breaks sprinkled throughout the day) I try really hard to NOT think about the law 😅

I have a somewhat unsteady, gappy work history due to several health issues — serious ones — that have gotten in the way since I passed the bar. My first major health issue I can easily explain as it’s physical, a major concussion. My other health issues are severe depression that affected my ability to work steadily. I am better finally, and ready to get back to work, but I don’t know how to explain this or even approach this during interviews/resume writing.

Anyone have any helpful advice?
