But what truly matters is completing work on time, rather than spending 3-4 hours in traffic commuting to the office. During that time, I could manage to work more on my projects or focus on my hobbies outside office hours. Investing that time in self-learning or hobbies is more beneficial than wasting hours in traffic, contributing to increased air pollution. If someone is not meeting expectations while working from home, managers can take appropriate actions, and these achievements can be considered in the appraisal process. Honestly, this generation prioritizes work-life balance over a 2-4 lakh increment. If a company offers remote work but provides a slightly lower salary compared to another counteroffer, many would prefer the org with work life balance due to its employee-friendly policies.

Before I answer, I am a manager :)
Organisation is making it mandatory for multiple reasons :
1. Market - Now that most organisations have moved to this model, KPMG can also do it without fear of attrition.
2. Office space - we already have offices and it will be waste to not use it.
3. Team members mis using the hybrid model to treat it as work from anywhere rather than work from home. If someone wants to work from Indore, Ahmedabad, Guwahati but at same time draw salary of Gurgaon or bangalore is not going . I think organisation has the right to enforce it.
4. Hybrid has its own side effects. Its safe when resources are mature but we have seen issues with new members not learning/adapting the organisations' culture. Consulting cannot happen in silos.
5. Pre covid we had to go office everyday (most of cases). If things are returning back to normal, why is this not ok?
