It wasn't the position I desired but it was better than the stop gap I was working atthe time. I was chosen through a series of panel interviews of 19 candidates. I was then sent an offer letter of over 7% less than what HR stated by the Director..

Thankfully I had a direct line with the contact and I reached out to the contact and they had it corrected within 5 minutes and an updated offer letter was sent over immediately. Most companies_ hiring managers don't intentionally try to get over, but some nickle and dime new hires especially when salary discussions amongst certain positions is over emphasized as being forbidden.

Be careful. Be aware that salary negotiations are not thumbing your nose up at a position that you may feel that they nay come across as. If at all possible, be aware of what ranges are and how your skills and experience line up with the position. If you don't get what you are worth as a starting point, you'll either regret not having the conversation or will kick yourself as you try to work you up to that amount via raises.

Got offered 68k after 2 years as a contractor (62.5k) doing project management/business admin in a tech department at a Fortune 500 bank. I have an A.S degree and working on my bachelor’s/masters may 2024. I negotiated to 84k NYC. I have seen interns get offered 38 per hour (79k) for internship positions with a similar role.

Thoughts? Should I go higher? I do my job well that’s why they decided to keep me as a contractor after my internship.

Im a pastry cook with 4yrs experience and the average salary start for this position is now at $22/hr here in vegas, especially in the strip. But cooking/baking is not my passion. So im changing into veterinary medicine and im seeing that the starting rate for a vet tech is around $16-18. Why is that?? Why are people in the vet med industry being paid so low?? Something needs to change. Labor of love aint enough for the people in this job.
