Getting out of M&A? I am a 3rd yr at a V30 and want to get entirely out of M&A and do more licensing/media/entertainment work. Willing to take paycut and be retooled. Any idea where to begin?

BILLABLE v. SALARY BASED.... pros and cons? I’ve never worked at a firm that has billing requirements, I’ve always been salary based, but I’m interested to know what your experiences have been!

First year associate in litigation offered an assistant in-house role for the construction division of a real estate development company. Asked to send an offer letter detailing my salary and benefit requirements. Don’t know where to begin. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I found out a soon to be 2nd year associate got a 10k raise making his salary 110k now, while I, the soon to be 3rd year associate got a 2k raise making my salary 107k. So now the 2nd year male associate is making more money than me. How do I bring this up to the partners?

They should really poll the associates to seed ideas for holiday party locations...

Is end-of-year bonus season a lost cause at this point? (In a firm with no layoffs or pay cuts yet).

PARTNERS: two questions —1. If you see an associate has really low hours for the month, do you imagine them chillen on a beach somewhere or do you consider they probably spent most of their days sitting in front of the computer being “available”? 2. If you send an associate a random e-mail on a weekend like “Can you pull X and send to Y”, would you get annoyed if they responded saying they weren’t by a comp or would you consider it reasonable that they wouldn’t be by a comp on a weekend?

Salary cut 20% first week the virus broke out, no bonuses this year, and it’s unlikely that we will get that 20% back. Good thing this was my first year and I earned all of 3 months of my salary. 😑

Aside from just time and experience, is there anything I can actively do to advance in my career and get more responsibility / client interaction? I’m a first year

Hello! I’m based in NYC and looking for my next role. I work in the digital strategy/brand strategy space. I have experience across multiple industries (tech/telecom/Pharma (dermatology)/beauty and skin care and I am looking for a Director or VP role (my last job was a VP). I would like to keep my base of at least $180k (is this reasonable if I look for Director positions too?) Would love to land something soon before we hit the holiday season. For all you retail people...are you experiencing a very slow holiday season? I am a retail manager and I feel like this season has been freakishly slow. I thought we would at least match last year's number or be up a little bit but we are trending down. I talked to employees of other stores in the mall and they are saying the same thing. Hey guys! I just received luckily enough two offer from two big companies: one as a Senior UX in SAP Concur and another one at Microsoft as a Designer II in Microsoft Teams. The role matters until a certain point to me. What does it matter is career and learning perspectives. Do you have any previous experience with one of the two companies? Hi all, How do you deal with having a good relationship with an ex-colleague, and then that person switches jobs, becomes a hiring manager, is hiring for a position you’re perfect for (experience + credentials) and then you reach out to them saying you’re interested and why it would be a good idea - and then they completely ghost you..I also sent an application via the website and got rejected. I am really always trying to help out old coworkwrs with getting jobs, but this is just frustrating 🥲
