I have a couple of questions for ZS fishes-
1. Is it possible to turn down a promotion at ZS? I'm currently happy with my responsibilities as a Decision Analytics Consultant and don't want any added responsibilities in the near future (next 5 years)
2. Is it possible to shape up a career path in the BC stream which doesn't involve business development? I don't want to get into working on SOWs and RFPs.
Happy 2017 everyone!! How's everyone feeling?

You should look up the laws around security deposits, and review the lease you had them sign to understand what you built into that lease around what you could or couldn’t keep from that deposit.
My guess is that as long as they met the requirements for cleanliness / move out condition, you will owe them the security deposit back. Violating the lease usually isn’t cause for keeping the deposit.
Unless the break the length of the lease. Break fees are common

Honestly, if they didn’t cause any property damage, I would just let the go with their deposit. Count yourself lucky they didn’t try to not pay rent and stay with that 3rd person.
It sucks, but just move on. In tenant friendly states, the costs that could come from a potential loss suit will vastly outweigh that $750 deposit.
I am in California. The monthly rent is $1,500 and their deposit is $750. In CA you legally cannot have anyone stay longer than like 10 days if they are not on the lease.
Not sure what I can do here because as soon as I asked them to get him out they agreed. But I didn’t know about it until 2 months later bc they were hiding him.
Are they breaking the lease by moving out early?
It’s a month to month lease with 30 day notice so they didn’t break the lease. They gave me notice on June 18th and I told them they owed me prorated through the 18th of July and they still haven’t paid me. So that’s another annoyance, lol.
Well if they haven't paid you for July yet then send them a 3 day notice to pay or quit. Get your ducks in a row if they are behaving so difficultly.
Yeah that’s what it was looking like that as long as there wasn’t any damage done then it doesn’t matter that they hid an extra tenant, even though that doesn’t seem fair to me… since I did not sign up to have 3 people to one bedroom. That’s way too many people.
They did fuck up my bathtub though, not sure how to value that. I had a cleaner come out but there’s stains that will not go away (looked like they went to the beach everyday and never cleaned. Shower was completely black before the cleaner).
4 adults in a 2 bed? That alone is a yikes. A surprise 5th would be awful
They’re college aged but yup! It is a large space but still wtf
I would just give it back because if you don’t and the get a lawyer, it will cost you more than the deposit just to get a lawyer - not worth the trouble.
It’s such a small amount of money, don’t stress about it so much! Just call them and work something out.
