Took me about 3 years to feel normal and accepted, and every year after that was better and better. After 5+ years still don’t feel as respected as I was in my previous consulting firm but it’s much better. If you grind it out and go through change, you will evolve tremendously…you can bet on that at BCG.
Takes about 2 years and some change to feel comfortable as lateral
Takes about 6-12mo to hone in on the consulting skills. Then your prev exp starts adding value! Hang in there! You will see that you are much better than home grown, no worldly knowledge PLs. You will ace the client mgmt because you know how they work and what would work with them!
Unfortunately I’ve only been on boring projects with terrible WLB
I am with you. Feel exactly the same.
7 months in. Feel the same. I can deal with everything else (wlb, being disrespected everyday), but the work is so uninspiring and therefore not sure if its worth it.
Probably case by case. I started as PL1 9 mo ago, and some cases generally i loved, some i loathed more than average.
Overall there is no perfect case. There is some balance.. interesting topics tend to be bad WLB and stressful experience, while better WLB tend to be boring topics
