Hi, are there any Construction Project Managers/Owner’s Representatives out there? I’ve been one for 1.5 years, after being a Structural Engineer for 10 yrs. I’m so grateful I made the pivot bc I had gotten completely miserable on the engineering side and now I love my job. I also made a significant salary jump to just over $100k when I made the switch. But bc I felt underpaid most of my engineering career, I want to make sure I don’t continue to be. Am I doing good? For reference I’m 34/female.

Considering PwC uses a cohort model, what are your options for negotiating a raise? Get another offer or get promoted? The cohort levels barely offer 3-4k more.

Why have unions become so powerless in recent years? A decade ago, the collective bargaining units would get wage increases that matched or exceeded inflationary growth. Now we are lucky to see any positive integer offered.

Realistically, if they are merely securing my job for $100/month they are not providing value! I can protect my own job, AND pay for a decent retirement with that money saved.

Is it expected that people who exit from MBB/Deloitte at post mba levels (PL/EM/M) take paycuts when going to industry? (non FAANG, PE). I'm In process at multiple internal consulting/strategy groups who say the paycut is part of the trade-off for less hours/no travel.

But as a female🐠, I can't discern whether this is just a negotiation tactic. Mentors have told me never take less pay.

For reference, this is at a comparable industry equivalent level (not clear up/down)

Company A - 100k base + 35k sign + higher bonus
Company B - 125k base + 10k sign + lower bonus

Company A is a good bit more superior in terms of exit opps and has better WLB and growth. I feel I’ll be happier at A. Thoughts?

It just won’t stop. In life or at work. In the office it seems like I can’t get ahead and every day it’s some new catastrophe I have to deal with. Outside of work it’s the same. Just one thing after another. On top of that money issues don’t help. Just can’t seem to get to a place where I’m dictating the pace of life and not having it dictated to me.
