Or the transparency would remove negotiation power as a competitive driver and all costs go up, just like happened with CEO salaries

Well then, I look forward to seeing how hospitals publish their pricing on the costs for staff, clinic/room, equipment, and materials that are outside of the cost of procedure, and are time or volume based, as each hospital will have their own jargon. And for when dr 1 from hospital 1 approves procedure 1 but a second opinion results in a completely recommendation and different price. Or, to your point about personal bankruptcies, when someone is in a car accident price doesn’t matter. Unless hospitals standardize, consumer information won’t matter in these cases. The private ambulance will take you where they can (or want depending on their priorities)

Hey Bowl,
I work for a late stage(ipo) start up, earlier this year we were acquired & since then they got rid of our yearly bonuses and gave us an ESOP grant.
2 RIFs later we are almost bare bones. Since we are coming up on our usual yearly evaluations many of us assumed (with multiple conversation from our managers) that pay raises and promotions were due.
In a recent All hands we found out that this year there will be no pay raises nor promotions based off merit. Is it time to jump ship?

What is the in-house interview timeline these days?

like

In house interview- I am going to hopefully the final round of interview to meet the whole legal team. I was asked about my availability, and it will take 5 hours if in one day. Should I split to multiple days? Will it cause any issues? Anyone on both sides can speak from their experience? Thanks!

Hi,

I’m approaching YE compensation discussions and was curious to see what folks/the industry are paying for institutional middle-market sales/distribution/business-development roles. I have 3yrs of experience with the same firm and am currently working as a sales analyst for the institutional sales team in NA. I have experience with traditional long only solutions, real estate (primarily value add funds), and a sector specific hedge fund. Any and all feedback is welcome!

Once, when I was little, I was playing Monopoly with my cousin. I was the banker, and I liberally “quantitatively eased” myself whenever he wasn’t looking.

I got unlucky and lost the game but I threw an absolute FIT, accusing my cousin of cheating because I knew how severely I’d cheated myself. How could he have won if HE didn’t cheat?!

Donald Trump’s righteous, desperate conviction is that of a losing cheater. I only hope he gets the time out he so richly deserves.

Lots of right wing hysteria about liberals trying to engineer equality of outcome to correct sexual/racial inequities (in higher ed, for example). I think we all want socioeconomic, gender and racial barriers to opportunities to be addressed, but no significant number of people really believe in equality of outcome right? This is just a straw man argument.

Ok, I’m gonna say this. Schools should open. Now hear me out. My wife is a family doctor, she is working insane hours, she is treating covid patients, and there is a lot of days when she has to stay at the hospital without coming home. My neighbour works in a local grocery store, so he has been at work since the Day 1 of lockdown. So if you need medical help, or want to eat, it’s ok for those people to be at work, but their kids have to stay home? Cont’d >>
