A year ago I walked out of retail for the final time. I remember sitting in my car after thinking I might regret it. I was nervous about leaving what I knew. A year later I can honestly say it was worth it. The stress level alone changed my life. If you are trying to get out but feel stuck or on the fence about it, what’s really keep you there?

Not having any idea what to do next. That's really it. I know what I DON'T want to do - this - but I have no idea where to go next. What did you end up leaving to do?? Most of the people I know who've made the leap have become realtors, but I know that's not a good fit for my personality.

I remember that feeling, sitting with the fear of the unknown versus the weight you’ve been carrying. Funny how once you step away, you realize how much stress you were normalizing. Glad it worked out for you. For a lot of people, it’s the steady paycheck and familiarity that make the decision so hard.

I'm stuck here because I have a family now and it's convenient for our childcare management otherwise I'd have been out the door 2 years ago! ...Wow 2 years has passed. Crazy.

I’ve spent so much time and built a career in retail. I’m not sure what else is out there for me. After 16 years in retail, what other industry is going to take a chance on me?

What’s keeping me here is the amount of time I have invested in building my skills and experience in this industry. I know that some skills can transfer, but with this job market, it would be difficult for me to make that change at the moment.

Case load= malpractice? Small plaintiff’s firm of 25 attorneys. I was a 2 year associate hired and given 50 active files in pre litigation status. 9 mos later a partner quit and I inherited 45 more. I got up to 105 files. Now I hover at 85 active files in varying stages of pre lit. I asked managing partner for help and was told to settle more claims to lessen my load. Is this what people consider negative work culture?
