Yeah it’s possible. I did it. Consultancies don’t worship at the throne of youth. They actually value and respect seniority. You become a little fish in a big pond, but hey- it’s a big pond. The roles that transition best straight into a consultancy are planners typically. Especially ones that have worked at smaller, entrepreneurial shops because you have to stretch beyond your usual limits and use lateral thinking to make an impact. It’s totally doable. Happens all the time. Everyone’s experience is different. Your success and happiness hinges on what group you join to get into the consultancy. You need an insider to help you navigate that.
Be forewarned: I’ve spent time in 2 well known consultancies. They’re a hot mess compared to agencies. They just sell themselves better to clients. It’s all smoke and mirrors though.
