I was planning to go back to work after 6 weeks. In the end I was only able to go back part-time after 6 months. It was a combination of the lack of sleep, baby attachment and the guilt I felt.
6 weeks and the first few months were part time. Fun stuff!
I was ready to go back after 8 weeks.
Honestly, harder than I expected. I went back after 12 weeks and dropping my tiny baby off at daycare was the worst.
She also got sick a lot and then I’d feel guilty for not working. The shift in priorities was a big thing for me.
If I could’ve stayed home longer, I think 6 months would be ideal. Baby is bigger and you’ve had more time to settle into a routine.
I went back 6 weeks after a c-section . Unfortunately I didn’t get maternity leave since I was self employed . I would have preferred waiting longer , but it was ok
Give yourself some grace. You have just undergone a huge life change. You will adapt. It takes time. You also need to remember that if you went through childbirth, you are also physically recovering for a longer than you may realize. Take it from a mama who’s been through it, just get through one day at a time. Give it 9 months to a year to get to a new normal. Then see how you feel. Best of luck to you!
