AI Engineer here. I recently started a role in the energy/industrial tech space. The work is strong technically, but it’s hybrid (3 office days) with a long commute. I also have a young child who already spends a lot of time in daycare on office days.

I now have another offer in telecom/cloud: fully remote, ~$5k higher, slightly more senior.
Which would you choose?
A) Stay for engineering depth
B) Take the remote AI role

With IFTTT (free app that links APIs), use Reddit's applet for getting alerts for company name mentions configured to "subreddit:gamedeals free". Bunch of people post links to sales on that sub, including free stuff, and this way I don't have to proactively visit it. Picked up a few titles this way so far thanks to the "free" company getting mentioned 😉

What are some good ways to get into management?
I am an individual contributor with ~8 years of experience and a strong track record. I enjoy my work, but am getting a little burnt out being directly customer facing. I also want a bigger seat at the table. I am not the most natural people manager, but want to push myself and take on a new challenge.

4 months in as a first year associate and missing my billables every month by 20-30 hours. (Should be billing 158, I end up around 132). I never say no to work and I’m constantly asking for more work - should I be concerned? When should I expect to bill enough?
