We have a single balance sheet for all offices and countries so a move has little impact on anything. What is most important is that there is work in the new country for you and utilization won’t be negatively impacted. If you can show a business case that supports that there should not be any issue getting approvals.
My experience has been mixed. I moved internationally twice, and both times in high growth years. It is entirely people-driven, there wasn't a structured process. The first time I had the OK of my practice leader and of the receiving office, then my home office leader blocked it because "it would reduce millions of dollars of revenue in his office" (hint: I was neither that senior nor that fundamental to sales). Still it happened, but months later and out of the blue ("your transfer got approved, you are starting in the new country in 3 weeks"). The second time my practice leader was not supportive (the receiving country did not work much in that industry) but both the home and the receiving offices leads were very supportive and it happened smoothly. I did not need work visas for either of those moves.
I should add: the first time they asked me to move to the new country, the second time I asked.
I’ve seen it happen many times. I can tell you it’s less complex than with other firms, here as long as things “make sense”, policy won’t get in the way of them.
Depends on how good you are really
