My team & I ALWAYS end up working through lunch. On Friday I decided to log off, go to the store, get food, come home, sit, eat, then log back in. Felt nice & nothing bad happened. Imma do this often.

Nicely done. Now push this reasoning to your team. A lot of the “urgency” factor is made up by us (perhaps to feel like we are solving world hunger when we are not). I love consulting and have been doing it for 8 years but also know that we shouldn’t take ourselves too seriously.

Totally agree. Eating at your desk is depressing, unsanitary, and unproductive

Congrats on breaking away! I have always taken at least 30 min for lunch everyday, away from my desk. Gives new time to think, crash up with my team, and in the long run makes me more productive during the day.

I put a meeting on my calendar so it says "busy" on IM and on my Outlook calendar

I have an hour blocked for lunch on my calendar everyday.. lucky to get 30. Id never step away if I didn’t have that in there.

There’s no reason to eat lunch at your desk. Who the hell gets anything done while “working through lunch?” It’s absurd. I always try to eat away from my desk.

Aspire to never eat at your desk - very bad life habit.

Interesting all the noise about these PPT, my take:

The pandemic took all the upside of an IB analyst life (client meetings in person, fancy trips, suit up, worshiped at networking events) and left all the juniors with the downside (long hours, monkey-like type of job, aggressive work environment).

Not that the complaints are not sort of legitimate but you may need to revise the decision-making process that led you to accept a return offer. Specially if you were looking for less hours.

If anyone working in UK can refer me in their organization, would be really helpful

Hi HR Professionals! I am revising our current employment application form. Per SHRM, I was just curious if any HR Professionals completely removed the following fields: social security number, recommend salary, graduation dates, military discharge info, race, maiden name like (Ms. Mrs. Ms), & criminal history questions. I was just curious what other Employers/HR Professional have done. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I was wondering if the review course “CPE Self Study Course” for the CFF was enough preparation to study and pass the CFF exam. The CFE review course was enough and like if you get a question wrong it explains it well so that when it comes up in a different way in the real exam you can still get it. But when I saw the outline for the CFF material and there seems to be a lot of topics so I was wondering if the review course was sufficient considering this exam is also multiple choice. Thanks!

Thanks in advance!

I have accepted an offer for the role of Director of Data Science & Analytics and I'll be working with old colleagues. I am very excited. I haven't given notice yet because I am waiting for the background check to complete, but my boss just asked me about traveling to a meeting in November. I start at the new job Oct 25. I'm really struggling for how to respond. If I were not leaving it is absolutely a meeting I should be at. I don't want to respond with a lie. Any dvice on how to respond?

I started a new job last monday; this is my first corporate job after college. My senior manager ( my manager’s manager) scheduled a 1:1 with me on Friday and she expects me to have questions.
What should ask? I'm already being trained by my peers, so I don't really understand the dynamic.
