From someone who has done this, twice, youll be fine. I got out of one job, took 5 months off and slowly job searched and not many people asked why i did and the group that did was more facinated about my travel stories and relaxing than why i was off work for so long. Just have a reason besides "i didnt want to work" lol
Be prepared (i) to have good rationale for why you took time off/why you left your job and (ii) for the search to take 2x the time you expect (if you just want to be off for 2 months, you should be fully comfortable with being unemployed for 4 months because things don’t always go to plan)
I've done this twice! I quit from my job without anything lined up just because I needed a break and I felt so burnt out. I took my time off as long as I can and started sending application as soon as I felt that I am ready. I just made sure that I monitor my expenses not to exhaust my savings until I finally find another job. You'll be fine.
I’ve done this, if you have the savings do it
Also, if your thinking about the reason to tell employers on the gap, I took a little over 3 months and said I was helping take care of a family member - no one will ask more details
Fear of not getting a job again hits hard for a person who has never taken break between jobs.
Specially for the one's having dependents... in such cases our savings fall short
Depending on your years of experience, you should find a job quickly. It might be a red flag if you are jobless, but if you have a good resume, you will have a good shot of landing a job easily.
It might be the case but yes I agree that you must have a really good resume to back you up. Taking a break is just as important.
Burnout is real! If you're ready to quit and you have some $$ to float you, I don't see why not
I don't think you are crazy at all. I had to do this once and I managed to get a job the very next day. If you have the funds to go a bit without having something then go for it. Take care of yourself first.
Everyone has their own limit. But have you tried taking a long, non-paid vacation like 1, 2 or 3 months, and reevaluate from there?
I’m unsure if it’s actually ok to take unpaid time off? I’m only looking for two weeks but I don’t wanna make my manager upset
Unless you just have a good amount of cash set aside, I would find something first and tell them it will be 1-2 months before you can start. Safety first IMO
