Class action lawsuit for the 30 cents payout 😎
Why would you think that the most popular and profitable digital platform would be at risk of going away anytime soon
This is certainly an incident we would have to manage. Are you trying to drum up work?
Got me
It's not that I think it's going away. It's just nothing lasts forever as we are already witnessing things like this happen. People who have brought Discovery TV shows on their Playstation are losing access to those files. Licenses and deals change all the time. If a dev stops publishing on Steam, do I lose access to their previous works. What safeguards do we as consumers have to stop a mass extinction of out libraries.
Didn't know this

I'd be annoyed, but how many of those titles do I really play? Realistically, I'd be out maybe a few hundred bucks and a few save files. Annoying, but nothing I can't survive.
Replacing would be feasible. License owners will find ways to redistribute any IP that's still valuable. Dead franchises might even float up as abandonware for more people to enjoy. A few titles would vanish, but... oh well. Studios come and go, that much was even more true before Steam was mainstream.
What's worse is when the license holder intentionally shuts down distribution. For example, Warcraft 3 was made unavailable in favor of a lobotomized barely playable remake to force sales. Now THAT I'm mad about. Good thing I still had my CD copies.
By that time we will have more gamer pols, so the government steps in, too big to fail!
Nice
I don’t care anymore. Steam could go away and I wouldn’t be phased. And I say that with about 2-10 hours played each week
