I've been remote for 6 years. For as long as I can, I'm going to try to stay remote.
Although it was more acceptable to work remote during COVID, now remote work is reserved for cheap offshore labour, projects no one wants to work on, contractors, etc.
If you can pull that off, you won't have problems having a remote gig. My current gig lets me work in another time zone, with flex hours, entirely remote. Downside is I'm on contract, the work's boring, I got no benefits. And my vacation package sucks.
On the flip side, I do about 2-3 hours of real work everyday, then sit in the backyard in the sun having a drink.
Boils down to tradeoffs.
Man I'd just ride out your current remote gig until they decide that don't need you. 10 years there you'll probably get a cushy exit package and then you can look for your next thing.
I can't speak for you but I hated being in an office. The pretending to be busy, the office politics, forced small talk with coworkers you don't even care about, etc.
With remote, I just set my own hours, plug in, do the work and switch off. The amount it's done for my health and well being out ways any salary or vacation package they could offer. I can't imagine the last sick day I took.
Again, it's really up to you.
book plz
Classic? Or… I’m still employed and don’t want my book floating around on an anonymous site where my company could easily see I’m thinking about leaving?
