Any book recommendations for getting into active investing? I have a decent nest egg from passive investing (have a financial advisor), but one of my goals for 2020 is to wade into active investing.

Buffets letters are great, as suggested.

Not a book, but I'd recommend the TDAmeritrade investing education video work. Much better after the very basics than Fidelity and Vanguard's.

I'd also read The Only 3 Questions that Count by Fisher. Forces you to think instead of just follow rules.

Siegel's Stocks For The Long Run updates a lot of the material in the great classics like The Intelligent Investor.

like

A simple path to wealth.

If you want to learn more about value investing and fundamental analysis (the craft, maybe not so much about investment strategies), I’d recommend S.H Penman - Financial Statement Analysis & Security valuation and McKinsey’s - Valuation.

Valuation is excellent, don't think I'd start there. Bit heavy for someone that is looking to start.

Hate to piggyback off a post like this but I’m graduating this year and going to be the main provider for my family after graduating so I would prefer to be financially smart with how I spend my money and invest. Recommendations on this thread are awesome but I’m still a little lost on where to best start. Any suggestions?

Valuation is THE valuation textbook in my opinion. But it is a Grad level Book.

Three Grsham book is a great book, but the concepts have been updated by others.

The Fisher is accessible to anyone south more than a HS degree. It also points out many of the investing fallacies.

The Siegel beek is a basic finance college textbook. I've used it even to teach people that aren't college grads, but is really aimed at roughly a business junior year course level.

Best place to get pre-qualified for a mortgage?

I have some collections on my credit report. One from an electric company for $800 (imo they violated terms of contract and sent me to collections in spite of their fuck up), and an apartment for $80~ that charged me a cleaning fee when my apartment was spotless.

Despite these two collections have a 712-720 credit score.

So mortgage lenders care at all about the collections or is it mostly the credit score that matters?
