I dated someone 15 years older than me and he always lectured me about what did I do wrong. Has anyone ever been in a mostly platonic relationship? I don’t like to label myself much, but I don’t really like intimacy and don’t really like romance. Some people would say I’m asexual/aromantic, but unless that too is a spectrum, I don’t think I fit squarely into that group. As I get older, I’m realizing I’m feeling very lonely. Almost midnight here and I'm cleaning my medicine cabinet so I can reboot having a regular skin-care routine. I'm listening to one of my favorite musicals, "Ragtime", specifically the song "He Wanted to Say". Living 9 time zones away from home out of the US and watching the BLM movement there, unable to do anything concrete about it from here - this song I've listened to countless times, today about brought me to tears.

I grew up in a nuclear family away from extended relatives who were never really close. Parents were either emotionally unavailable or distant. All I've wanted for myself was a big loving family to call my own.. my parents are unaccepting of my sexuality & my partners family is also quite fucked up so she's isn't super close to them either. Honestly this sucks & it feels like I'll never have a huge supportive family I've wanted & craved for.

I feel like I’ve lost myself since joining McK. My whole world has become about work.
