St Kilda!! It’s an Australian cafe that serves breakfast & lunch - they used to serve dinner and it was phenomenal. My family and I stayed in DSM last summer to go to the state fair. My parents live in the NYC area and were obsessed with St Kilda - coincidentally, the owners and founders of St Kilda had recently relocated from Brooklyn, where they owned and operated similar cafes, and opened St Kilda in DSM.
I think they have two locations - we ate multiple nights at the location near Harbach Lofts. They seem pretty chill and close at 5pm so maybe you could ask to do a mixology/cocktail class with their bartender as a team event.
St. Kilda Surf & Turf was under construction when we were there but it is now open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Same great owners.
Go to Horizon Line Coffee and DSM Brew Coffee Co. And 100% go to Black Cat for amazing ice cream.
DSM is definitely a small city but if you look there is plenty to do. I think we also went to a minor league baseball game which was fun.

lmao I have been in Des Moines for a while now on a project.... Smash Park is fun if people would want to do activities -- are you downtown or in West Des Moines?
Downtown I can give a list of some good restaurants, 30+ people is going to be tough though.
You could see an Iowa Cubs game if they are still playing
You can rent boxes at the iCubs for something reasonable.
Downtown restaurants: Centro, 801 Steak and Chop.
Downtown bars: 301 Rooftop, Court Ave has a number of bars and restaurants. A smaller bar but super fun is El Bait Shop.
Look up Big Yellow Bike. You could rent two bikes to bar hop and I think it would be able to accommodate your crew. Iowa Cubs is another good event and you can probably get a suite fairly inexpensively.
WDM: Grumpy Goat, Bar Louie, Wellmans (also has a rooftop)
