1. What are the hierarchy leveles in ZS Associates (software development). ZS folks , kindly help me on the same. I am having 4 years of experience, what hierarchy band can i expect?
2. How much percentage is variable component in ZS? I come from ACN which has 21% vp component.

ZS Associates

Cost cutting method. Pharma folks are cheaper to hire, ZS do not want to pay the full price. This is evident as KM hires people with Master's degree at Associate level.
Long term implications: ZS KM leadership openly told that they consider likes of WNS as their competitor, and pay benchmarking is as per that only.
short term- ZS will save money
long term- ZS KM has and will become training ground, this is evident by Bain, EY and now Deloitte brain-draining KM. WNS is no longer the talent drainer, EY Bain BCG Novartis Lilly Pfizer GSK and any other pharma medtech company all are becoming competitor.
Leadership should understand supply & demand. If supply of pharma talent is high, trained pharma talent is low.
KM/CoE/ capability whatever you call is what made ZS unique. If projections are right, Big4 and MBB are building healthcare capabilities and will have power and access to C-suite. losing KM talent will lead to capabilty loss which will not be recovered. Look at PoVs which ZS publish, quality has taken a nose dive. E.g. KM associate from mecca of pharma in India gets 12LPA, that person leaves ZS aftee 1 year to join likes of accenture at 26LPA.
Compare that attrition to BT or any other track, max hike market is offering is 30-35%. Bcos you have engineering talent freely available, IC, power BI are skills that can be trained in few months. Expertise take years.
I believe then all the Associates who have now become Senior Associates have been benefitted then. They have become free agents who would still continue to switch, no? At least, I would want to. These specialist and senior specialist titles are nonsense.
Doesnt matter what label they give you. Get a skill set, (not talking about databases, as no other firm has accsss to the variety that ZS KM has)
Learn about pharma business, how it operates
This will open avenues, moving to pharma, medtech, healthcare, insurance and Venture capital firms.
Specilist designation kinda help you say 'hey i know my stuff thats why I am specilaist'
Or else explain that you are an AC or A, industry folks understand.
On that, what is the best way for non-business folks to learn how Pharma insutry operates at a high level?
It was watering down the BC track and about time, the change was made
No other consulting firm considers their KM track within strategy.
At the moment, ZS is trying to increase billings/margins of their Strategy consultants to show them at par with MBB.
We face challenges while pitching for projects when clients feel we're really cheap (compared to other Tier 1 firms) and as such, we have to inflate billables or overstaff to give the impression that we're equally 'premium'.
If you see MBBs, they have a completely different org for KM/research and they are not paid inline with management consultants. ZS is just gradually moving towards that model.
KM was BC? Why?
Bcos they sometime, some teams also help with solution design
Great points by Zs Associates 1. KM capability has been time and again a key differentiator for winning strategy projects. They are truly specialists with healthcare backgrounds and add tremendous value. I hope we don’t lose good talent due to the recent decisions.
