Any insights on working with a MBA consultant? Is it necessary? Recommended consultants?

Imo a good consultant can really help make your essays concise, to the point, and highlight the important parts, especially given the word limits for most schools. But also there is ChatGPT that can do a lot of that for you too.

Just do applicant lab and

A great consultant can help you figure out how to position yourself in your applications. It might not be obvious. Or what you THINK you should write about may not be the most compelling story.

Figure out what type of support YOU need (it is different for everyone) then actually READ the reviews on P&Q to see if what others valued in an admissions consultant is what you are looking for.

Lots of firms offer free consultations with no strings attached.

It's not necessary but it is up to you as an individual on what areas you need help in. I did not use one as I personally didn't want to shell out the costs for a consultant. The areas I felt I needed help in were essay reviews but I had a good network of friends who were able to help there.

That being said, I did leverage the free resources (such as on their websites, blog posts, etc.). A lot of consultants will offer a free session so you can see if the consultant works for you - I know for some people found this sufficient. This also can be a good check to see if the consultant seems like someone you'd want to work with. I have heard that working with a consultant has potential (not guaranteed) of getting some additional scholarship money so it could be worth an investment. I'd also look into MLT or Forte if you are eligible, they can sometimes give you additional resources.

I didn’t use applicant lab or consultants and was admitted to 4/4, T10 schools I had applied to with some decent scholarships. I’m not saying this to flex, just to let you know it’s completely possible if you’re on a tight budget. If you have any specific questions I’d be happy to share some tips.

The hostility on my team is rough. We have a yeller. I walked by her room the other day. She was screaming across the room at a student, "you have to be kind to get kindness." Seriously, those were her words in a loud, berating, angry tone. Our admin has asked that we not report these. We are to talk to the teacher. She has yelled at me and other adults. Admin has to know she treats the kids this way too. One teacher has to work with her door closed to not hear the yelling all day.

Does an MBA (US) make sense for me? Male, Indian, Age 32, Married working in tech consulting with 10 YOE. Base is $165 with steady increases and bonus is typically 15%. I eventually do want to cross the $300K threshold but I know stopping work for 2 years and getting and MBA probably won’t get me a $300K job right away. Becoming a manger in my current company/path will probably get me there in terms of TC. Also considering EMBA from a good school (Wharton Global, Duke, Kellogg, Booth).

Genuinely curious question: why do so many international students want to get MBAs in the US... it’s hard for them to get work here, with Trump it’s hard to even get and stay here, so what’s the appeal? My colleagues
Just to put some intro
I am 22 years after college experience and worked in consulting for 15 years and currently in industry for 7 years.
My long term goal is to go back to consulting more of a business advisor from a strategy perspective
Here is my question
Would MBA be any good for me especially looking at strategy side?
I don’t want to spend $200K and would probably go online MBA in a mid tier school. Are those any good?
Looking forward to your great input on this topic
