Depends. If being an intern gets you in the door of where you want to be, go for it. Otherwise go the opposite way and position yourself as a fresh mid level, if you’re able.
Don’t do lateral move. Just move up in the next agency
If you’re right out of school and only have freelancing/internship experience that’s the way to go, if you’re looking to genuinely do a lateral move you need the connections to get an interview there, that’s all. They will hire someone with experience, but to intern after you’ve worked full time as an art director is going backwards.
