I would have imagined the opposite. Going corporate would free you up from having to over-design slides - just simple slides with a few bullets on the page, image/chart here and there. Unless you’re junior and your value add is slide design.
D2, now that I'm industry, you don't imagine how many times I've been asked to "focus on the content, not pretty slides" before hearing the slide was too busy/not visual enough by the same person.
Now I always make pretty slides.
Try this for free 30 days no credit card, works best for ex McK though

I got an efficient elements license from BCG on the way out. It expires after a year but a lot of the helpful stuff I used stayed on my computer even after expiration so just been leveraging some of that. We have some okay templates here but yes, I miss many tools and less red tape.

Yup.
Search query of "MBB Slide Templates" gives you lots of possibilities.
Thanks - obvs tried that but was hit and miss!
Simple an elegant. PowerPoint is really good now. It used to take me a long time to do anything now it's really easy to use and intuitive. Tons of templates that can give you ideas. I usually pick templates and add/delete context to fit my approach. You can search icons and backgrounds to custom fit your dialogue.
Slidebooks, SlidesGo, and Umbrex are solid
Depending on the use case I will still use some of the standalone templates from AWS as well as EYP and Bain. I actually still have an old black & white version of the McKinsey template from around 2012, which was helpful while I was onsite at clients who didn't have color printers.
