Today’s my bday. Also my beloved family dog is getting put to sleep due to cancer. I didn’t take the day off today for either reasons. Do I have my priorities messed up right now?

No, your priorities are fine unless you wanted to take time off for your dog and didn’t. People stop taking birthdays off after 21.

It sounds like you already know the answer and your question is largely rhetorical.

Happy Birthday and so very sorry for your loss.

I’m so sorry. Just wanted to share that my family cat was put down on my birthday a few years ago. You will feel better, I promise. Regarding your priorities question… It may be nice to carve out specific time to honor both your bday and the passing of your family’s dog. Maybe next weekend. That way everything gets some dedicated time and attention!

Do you have your priorities messed up right now? No one can answer that for you. I’m sorry for your loss, that’s hard.

While most teachers are protected by teacher unions, I feel my voice hasn’t been heard at all with my concerns of going back to school next week. Our diocese has decided on full return 5 days/ week for all 42 schools despite a recent increase in COVID in our communities. Every other school that I know of in my state is either choosing remote learning to start the year or a hybrid approach, yet that was not an option for us. Are other Catholic schools I. The same boat? Stay safe!
