Wrong bowl
I’m in the same boat as you. And I’m Canadian. Sometime the lawyer has no clue what’s going on. 🤦🏽♀️
I’m confused. Are you a judicial law clerk or a student thinking they should be getting an attorney salary?
Sorry, I will clarify, I’m Canadian, Law clerks are different from lawyers or paralegals and we aren’t allowed to do the same kind of things as lawyers or paralegals who were called to the bar.
As a law clerk I basically cannot give legal advice nor have I done any articling etc.
As a salary difference, Junior lawyers has yet to be called to the bar, but are about to be and have some of the same abilities lawyers do, as a law clerk I have taken a course with basic knowledge etc. junior lawyers generally start around 72,000 per year whereas law clerks start anywhere from 40,000-55,000 per year.
The work being requested of me is far above my pay scale. It feels like a cop out. Do the work but don’t get paid for it.
