It is becoming the norm for federal district judges to only hire clerks with 2-3+ years of experience.

My judge (federal district) only hires folks with experience.

My judge does. State appellate. I’ve also known an attorney to get a job as a federal appellate clerk after several years of practice.

like

Yes, it is actually pretty frequent these days to clerk after a few years of experience. Many judges prefer a few years experience too

like

My federal district judge also prefers a least a couple years of experience.

I’ll be clerking later this year as a c/o 2018, lots of judges nowadays require their clerks to have a few years of experience, makes sense given the work that clerks do

I'm currently clerking for a District Judge in Brooklyn who prefers a couple years of experience before a clerkship.

Hi All,

I have an offer of 6.5 LPA fixed with Accenture (Level 11). Total CTC in Accenture is 7.8 LPA which includes variable pay. I have an offer of 8 LPA fixed with another company. I have accepted the offer of Accenture so now if I ask Accenture to increase my fixed amount to 7 LPA from 6.5 LPA, will my request get fulfilled and is this fair to ask? My joining date is 20-21 days from today. Please suggest

Hi Sharks,

I have recently joined new organisation where my offer is 18fixed + 1.8variable.

I was having CTC of 8lpa in my previous organisation.

How could be the tax calculation for this year? How the tax is computed with 2 different CTC's? In which tax slab I would come under as per old regime?

I have joined in Oct with new organisation. Till Sept I was with old organization.

As someone who is interested in public interest law (open to impact litigation or policy work), does it make sense to clerk in state court -- trial level -- and if so, for how long? Are these clerkships only useful for becoming a state court judge down the line or can they open doors to other paths?

Need advice on a specific question!
Interviewed with Chicago court 2 weeks ago; they decide mid-August. Interviewed with DC judge last week; hear from him by this Friday. Chicago said if I need an answer before August, they'd try to make a decision about me sooner.
Should I ask Chicago for an answer? Or should I wait until there's an offer from DC judge? Maybe seems better to withdraw before an offer is made rather than ask for time to think about it/turn down DC? What's proper etiquette?

I’ve been at my clerkship for 5 years (4 with a different judge) and one with my current judge, and I heard horrible things about him before starting, but I assumed they were exaggerated. Turns out they’re all true, and I’ve had to start therapy to deal with him and the incredibly toxic environment. I’m trying to get out ASAP b/c he also has a history of firing clerks without cause or notice, but I think I’ll only be able to give two weeks notice if i get the job I’m interviewing for. Thoughts?

I can’t help but feel stuck in my career. I’m a licensed attorney in another country, but been working as a law clerk in a firm for about a year now. We still aren’t operating at our previous capacity because it takes 10x the number of steps to get a motion heard or an order entered—90% of our workload.
